valentines ’09

You know it’s been a while since you’ve stamped when you make 40 Valentine treat bags and have to force yourself to make it simpler than what you originally envisioned. LOL!

It’s been quite a week for us over here. With me going to Jury Duty all day on Monday and coming home to the pajama crew (I was slightly jealous), then waking up to two sick boys, finding out that Perrin has double ear infections and possible strep (call for results tomorrow, but the spots tell us he has it), Owen is congested – bordering on a cold, and a busy work week for Don. So it was a nice treat to take some time out today and stamp Valentines for the boys to give to classmates. Owen will be delivering Perrin’s to his classroom for him since he’s been excused for the rest of the week from school.

Anyway, when I was designing their Valentines, I really wanted them to look more “grown up” than the ones I’ve done in the past. With Perrin in Third Grade now, some of the images I thought of using seemed too “little kid”. I know he’s still a little kid, but nowadays you can get away with a lot of non-traditional Valentine images if you just have the right sentiment. Hehehe!

For these I used images from Rusty Pickle’s Princess Pirate Stamp set. (Don’t tell the boys it’s the girly pirate set! You really can’t tell with this image. Mwahahahaha!) I got the little brown bags at Target and stamped the image on them in Real Red ink. For the focal image I stamped the main image with Craft White from SU! on Kraft and let dry – didn’t take that long. Then I used my snap stamps for the sentiment and stamped the words using Palette Black and Real Red. I then used my paper piercer to pierce a simple line because it felt like it needed some weight at the bottom. I then dipped the edges in Craft White and let dry. When it was dry I used my favorite tape and adhered them to the Real Red mat. The bags were then filled with goodies (heart fruit snacks, glow stick & Valentine bubbles) and the focal image was attached with a red staple.

I’m really happy with how these turned out and hope their classmates enjoy getting them!

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
