This is one of the fun sewing projects I’ve been working on. Meet Pirate John! I made him for a friend who just had his first baby a few days ago and I’m so excited for him and his darling wife! I’ve known him since High School so I had to do something fun, when I stumbled across A Bit of Whimsy on etsy I knew at once that their little boy needed a pirate!

I got the darling John pattern and my boys had fun helping me pick out the fabric for his flannel pajamas. The only addition I made was the pirate hat out of wool felt that I created using a simple pattern. I then added the skull using white felt and black floss for the detail. The hat is removable for snuggle time safety.

Pirate John will soon be on his way to his new home, along with the coordinating blanket you see behind him. It’s a very simple blanket with rag edges for some fun texture.
