I wasn't sure I wanted to start something that is supposedly keyed toward young adults (seeing as how I'm close to ancient now!). I've just finished reading the 8th book in the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris. OMG! If you love fantasy, a little mystery and lots of humor, you'll love these books! So maybe you’ve talked me into starting the Twilight series. I wasn’t sure I wanted to start something that is supposedly keyed toward young adults (seeing as how I’m close to ancient now!).

I've also read a lot of Pride & Prejudice "continuation" stories recently. Some are pretty good & some are awful. One book I've read recently for the first time is The Count of Monte Cristo. He is the author that Robert Jordan picked to finish his The Wheel of Time series after he died - if you didn't know already. Anyway, maybe you haven't read them. I don't really know any military families, and it's been really eye-opening. The sacrifice these families make... I'm reading it for a mini-bookclub some friends and I have started.
