warm my heart – one layer
This card was done for Julie’s Dare to be Dirty challenge, unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to photograph it until yesterday. Her challenge was to do a one layer card with some of her other favorites included if you wanted to do a little extra. I think one layer cards are fun to do! It’s nice to come up with a clean design, free of multiple layers, once in a while. 😉
Julie always mentions that paper is one of the big keys to a nice one layer card. Listed among her favorites are these super yummy Fabriano cards! You simply can’t appreciate the quality until you’re holding one in your hands! There is a slight texture to them, they are a heaver weight and fabulous to watercolor on!

All images were stamped in Palette Noir Black except for the “steam” on the transparency. For that I used my opaque StazOn in Pink. I think I used re-inkers for the watercoloring. Actually, the more I look at it the more certain I am that I did. I’m just not that good at the watercolor crayons to get this kind of look from them.
I usually polka-dot this cute teacup, but this time I opted for a simple white stripe along the rim. I love how it turned out. To make the tea cup and plate a set, I put a pink stripe along the plate. I usde my Giga Scalloped Oval Marvy punch for the window and backed it with a piece of transparency.
The little black dots help to make the window stand out without overpowering the mood of the card. Stickles were added to the word “heart”. I was lucky enough to find some heart shaped brads in my stash for the center of the Primas. The little pink “ribbon” is a thin strip of Pretty in Pink cardstock that I used my White Gel Pen on for the stripe.
This card will be going out to a dear friend as soon as I get something to slip inside it. 😉 I’m going to add a Gift Certificate and secure it with some ribbon inside the card.

This is so cute! I especially like how you made the paper “ribbon”. Clever you!
I love how you added so many details to this card. It doesn’t even seem like it is only one layer because there is so much to it…and yet is has a simple and clean look. I don’t know how you do it!
I love this card, Emily!
