flying little lady

I had a lot of fun making this card. When I first saw the Little Lady set from PaperTrey Ink, I knew I wanted to make a card with a flying ladybug. I’ve been on a chipboard kick lately, so I paired the image up with a chipboard flower from SU!

Card base is the lovely white cardstock sold at PaperTrey. It’s a nice weight, much heavier than SU!’s WW. However, it is not as smooth as the WW sold by SU! There is a teenie bit of texture to the cardstock sold at PaperTrey, but I found that my images have been stamping better with this cardstock. I cut the cardstock to give me a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 square card. I cut my focal image panel and set aside.

I covered chipboard flower with some paper from my huge My Mind’s Eye paper pack that was sold at Costco. For the center of the flower I manipulated the sentiment as I put it on the acrylic block and stamped it using VersaMagic Inks. I then used my circle punch to punch it out, then matted it on some Pretty in Pink cardstock, using scalloped scissors for the decorative edge. I adhered a piece of May Arts ribbon to the focal image panel for the flower stem, then adhered the chipboard flower and set the panel aside.

To create the flying ladybug, I stamped the body in VersaMagic Pixie Dust several times on the white cardstock from PaperTrey. I then inked up the layering stamp in black to complete the ladybug image. I stamped the images a few times to give me enough images to work with, and to account for mess ups. I then cut out on complete image for the bottom layer and set aside. Next I cut out only the wings, taking care to cut down the middle and set aside. For the inside wings, I used my large oval punch from SU! and punched out two ovals from their cardstock weight vellum. I then adhered the wings, as desired, to the complete ladybug image. Next I judged where I wanted the top of the ladybug’s shell to be, used my paper piercer to pre-pierce a hole and attached the wings with a mini brad. I then shaped the shell, added some Stickles then set aside.

To complete the focal image, I stamped the path and then used it as a guide for the rhinestones. I then stamped the antenna on the flower, and adhered the flying ladybug with Dimensionals. The focal image was then adhered to some Pretty in Pink cardstock and scallop scissors were used for the decorative. To complete the matt, I pierced the scallops and used my white gel pen to outline the holes. The whole panel was then adhered to the card base to complete the card.
