i love cake!

Mmmmm! Who doesn’t love cake? (besides Andee *wink*) All images from justjohanna.

I stamped the I love cake background with Palette Noir Black on WW. Normally I have a really bad time with getting large background stamps to stamp evenly, but this stamp is deeply etched and great quality so it stamped perfect for me on the first try! I did move to my kitchen table to stamp it, to ensure a dense stamping base, but this trick doesn’t always work for me. I usually end up altering my card design to cover spots where the background stamp didn’t take very well, know what I mean? So I was very pleased with the results of this image! And this one is nice and big — it covers the full space of a card front — I ended up trimming it down to work as the top layer. I used Prismacolors to color in some of the letters to help make it pop on the WW cardstock. I then matted it on Pink Passion, added a photo corner accent, then set it aside.

Next I stamped Emily’s Oval Medium then stamped the scallop headstand image with the mini cupcake image on top of it inside the oval. Colored the images in with Prismacolors and added some Stickles to the icing and headstand. I used my Coluzzle to cut out the image, matted it on Tempting Turquoise then used my scallop scissors for the decorative edge. I added a little heart epoxy sticker in place of the cherry that is already on the image, since I wanted it to go with the theme of “I love cake.” The focal image was then adhered to the background panel with a polka dot brad from Queen and Company.

Last, the whole panel was adhered to the Tempting Turquoise card base. I tilted it slightly to add more whimsy to the card. It’s a simple thing to do to add a little bit of fun to your cards. When I put everything together, I noticed that the photo corner wasn’t showing up like I wanted it to, so I added some dot accents with my white gel pen and I really liked the results.

I want to thank you for all the kind words left for me in my last post and send everyone a great big ((((HUG)))) 🙂

  2. How cute! Love that scallop stamp and I can’t believe you cut such a perfect scalloped oval freehand! Do you know if the medium stamp would fit perfectly in the Marvy Oval punch? Thanks!
