swirly crayon resist ATC

Remember this card? Well here is it’s “Mini Me” in ATC form! This was also for the one-for-one swap I participated in. I read that the person I was swapping with likes red, so that was the reason for the color choices. Images from justjohanna.

ATC base is Real Red. Corners were pierced using the paper piercer and template from Stampin’ Up!’s Crafter’s Tool Kit. Next I stamped the image using Palette Noir Black ink on Glossy Cardstock and set aside to dry. It really only takes a few second, but when I’m going to do Crayon Resist I like to make sure the image is completely dry.

I chose to use black to go with the red as an expirement. I’ve never used black for Crayon Resist, since you cover up the image with the ink. But since Glossy doesn’t absorb the color the same way regular WW cardstock does, I figured it would work. I really like the end result. After completing the Crayon Resist Technique, I used my ticket corner punch on the main image then matted it on Basic Black cardstock.

Since the ATC is on a much smaller scale than the card, I had to scale down the embellishment. Here I used my Cuttlebug and the Tiny Tags die for the tag. Then I used the smallest flower from Flowers die. You can’t see it at all in the photo, but there is some paper piercing accents around the corners of the tag. The flower was then attached with the pearl brad and the embellishment was attached with the red grosgrain.

I hope you all had a nice Valentine’s Day! I ended up with a sick hubby and have been making sure he gets his night time cold medicine! Translation: a big fat nothing! So I treated myself to lunch yesterday while the boys were in school and tried out a new Sushi restaurant. I ordered an appetizer that is one of their special dishes – Pineapple Won Tons! OH YUM!! And the Tsunami Salmon Roll I had was delicious! Sometimes a girl has to treat herself, ya know! *wink*
