I think the best part about Cake Week is the smell! Tonight I’m baking the bottom cakes and it smells yummy! I’m using the petal shaped cake pan set by Wilton for this cake. My soon to be Sister-in-Law was really drawn to the cake she picked, and I know it has to do with the cake shape. So I decided to axe my thought of doing the cake with circle pans, and bought the petal cake pan set.

The bottom cake is 15″, so that is what I am baking right now. The flavor they picked for that one is yellow, and it will have a wildberry filling (raspberry and strawberry mixed together! Yummy!). This pan size takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to bake, then you have to let it cool about 40 minutes in the pan before turning it out on to the cooling rack.

So far I’ve gone thru five cake mixes (I use Betty Crocker), 15 eggs, 6 1/4 cups of water, and 1 2/3 cups of oil.

Tomorrow I hope to bake the 12″, 9″ and 6″ cakes. I can fit the 9″ and 6″ in at the same time, so that should help cut down on baking time.
